Notice of Availability of CDBG Funds

3/23/2020 Update: The Town of Summerville has received notice of the 2020 program year (July 1, 2020- June 30, 2021) allocation for the Community Development Block Grant, which is $283,261.00. The Town is now accepting 2020 applications from qualified non-profit organizations located within, or serving residents of, the Town of Summerville. Applicants must propose an eligible activity that meets a HUD National Objective, and which also meets one of the anticipated goals of the Town’s new Consolidated Plan: Homeless Assistance; Provide Decent, Affordable Housing; Provide Recreational and Community Facilities; Promote Fair Housing. Completed applications must be received by the Grants Writer by April 27, 2020 at 5:00PM. A community survey regarding the Consolidated Plan can also be found under the above referenced link. Due to Covid-19 the public hearing for the 2020 Consolidated Plan has been postponed until further notice. The Town of Summerville is preparing drafted versions of its 2020 Annual Action and Five-Year Consolidated Plans for its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Annual Action and Consolidated Plans are developed, as required, to meet HUD’s statutory requirements to receive funding allocations for the CDBG Program. A public hearing to obtain input and comments from the community on these plans will be held in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 200 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483 on March 16, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend to offer comments on the plans and proposed projects. Please contact the Town Hall officials at (843) 871-6000 at least 72 hours prior to the meeting if auxiliary aids are required.

The Town of Summerville anticipates receiving approximately $230,000 in CDBG funds from HUD for the 2020 program year (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021).
