Summerville Town Council unanimously approved $150,000 at its March 2021 council meeting to go towards the all-inclusive playground in Saul Alexander Park. Construction on the renovation will begin Monday, May 3, 2021. There will be limited access in the park. We anticipate the park closing fully for construction starting on June 1.

The space will be handicap accessible and re-designed to be enjoyed by children of all abilities. Renovations, including sidewalks, a zip track, inclusive whirl, and musical corner, will promote social equity and enhance the quality of life for the whole community. Children with cognitive, physical, sensory, or social disabilities will be provided with equal opportunities to play.

The Town also received funding from Dorchester County Government and the Summerville Miracle League for the project.

The bid for construction has been awarded to GameTime c/o Cunningham Recreation.

Work is expected to be completed by fall 2021.

Saul Alexander Park Playground is also known as Laurel St. Park. It's open every day from dawn to dusk under normal operating hours. It is home to Miracle League Field.
